Hiking the mountain

Me, Alorah, Christopher, and two of Alorah's brothers tried to hike up Mt Timpanogos. but we were actually on the wrong trail that only led to the waterfalls......

So we hiked back down then took a different trail up to the cool caves and took the tour:

we actually had to get off of the trail to take this picture ;-)

Rasslin!!

Like the good ole days when my Mo-Mo would take us to see wrestling matches......Rebecca, Joshua & Benjamin loved it.

Rebecca tries out for American Idol

American Idol came to Salt Lake City. Rebecca had the courage to try out.....

But, out of the 8000 people who tried out, she was one of the 7800 who didn't make it :-(

It was a long day that involved a lot of waiting around.......

Charly @ 8 months!

Story time!

Joseph & Porter love having daddy read them their bed time story ( as do all the kids). The story is always facinating and different when daddy reads to them, even when it is the same old boring book that mommy has read before. I some thimes wonder if Chuck reads any of the words or just goes off of the pictures and makes stuff up. Either way you can tell just from this picture how into the story the boys are.

Sarah's 10th Birthday

The Cake!
Sarah said she wanted a husky dog cake.

Putting the candles on.

Thinking of what to wish for... Hmm I wonder???

Round 2 for tubes in the ears!

I took Porter in to see the audiologist back in March and found out that Porter had not been hearing as well as we would have liked, even with the hearing aids. So, we ended up takeing him to see his Ear, Nose & throught doctor.
After visiting the ENT Dr. it was decided that Porter had fluid on both ears and needed tubes again. The doctor said a lot of times when a child needs tubes for a second time they will also take out their adenoids as well. He said he would wait untill Porter was put to sleep to decide if his adenoids needed to be removed. Well, sure enought Porter's adenoids were quite infected and enlarged so the doctor revoved them durring the operation.
Once the effects of the anethesia had compleately worn off Porter acted like himself, maybe a little quieter than normal (which was a nice change)but like himself none the less. He didn't even need anything for the pain.
The next time I took him to see the audiologist everything looked a lot better, but they still did end up having to turn up his right hearing aid. I guess it is just due to the fact that Porter is getting older and they can test his hearing a little more accurately.

Alyson & Charly

Alyson loves to sleep in my bed so she can cuddle with Charly. I think in this picture she had been awake and saw the camera and decided to act like she was still sleeping.

"Your son has been hit with a javelin."

....Not the phone call you want to get from Joshua's track coach.

But that's the call we got last Monday. Luckily it was not very serious, and Joshua came home smiling that day. That is, after he went to the hospital to get the 1 inch wound in his leg (shin area) cleaned out and 3 stitches put in.

His "best friend" threw it while he was down field......which I would think would be the #1 rule that they would stress and over-stress on the very first day of practice. That's why I was so upset that I wanted to go down and shoot the coach, the kid, and any other spectators just for good mesasure. That's also why Cindy went down to handle it without me.

Luckily it turned out pretty minor. It could have hit him in the head, or the face, or the crotch, or the chest, or the gut....or a dozen worse places.

More fun in the Snow

Fun in the Snow

This year is seems like we got more snow than normal and the kids loved it... At least for a while anyway. After the last big snow storm we got Chuck took the kids out on the sleds in our drive way. He said he was accomplishing two things at once (entertaining the younger kids and getting his exercise in)

Cakes!

OK, OK I guess I have kept y'all waiting long enough for a new post. So, here we go...

A few years ago Jeni gave me some cake decorating stuff, which I have tinkered around with from time to time but I had always wanted to take a cake decorating class so I could learn to do things "properly". And finally I was able to take the Wilton I cake decorating course with my sister Mindy back in January. It was one night a week for four weeks and we had so much fun!

These are the pictures of the cakes I have done. Some were before I took the course and some were during the course. I now feel more confident of my emerging talent, especially w/ how Abby's Cinderella cake turned out. Wow, what a challenge it was!

Charly at four months!

I can't believe how fast time flies! It seems in a lot of ways like just yesterday she was born. She is growing so fast!
